Trekking tours to the mountain lakes

Route:        Bishkek - Kyzart village - Son-Kol lake - Kochkor - Issyk-Kol lake - Karakol town - Karakol National Park - Ala-Kol lake - Altyn-Arashan hot springs - Anyrty lakes - Ak-Suu village - Karakol town. 

Day to day plan.

Day 1. Meet from Bishkek or Airport in Bishkek to Kyzart village, on the way take a turn to Burana tower. Depending on time of the start afternoon or close to evening come to Kyzart vilage, stay in local homestay. Rest. Possible to stop for meal on the way, dinner with family. No shower but possible to take ‘’banya’’ The road will take around 5 hrs.

Day 2. Who want to do horse ride meet with the horses and start riding to Kilemche pasture. Riding time 4-5hrs walking 5-6hrs. Pass the Kyzart pass 2700m. Stay in Yurt, alt 2530m. Before starting the ride you can leave things which you will not use for horse tour in the car. The car will meet you at the end of the trekking in Batai Aral Yurt camp.

Day 3. Another riding/walking day to Jaman Echki pasture 3300m. Good view to Son-Kol lake. Riding time/walking 4-5hrs. Stay in Yurt. Shower.

Day 4. From Jaman Echki to Batai Aral pasture at Son-Kol lake 3016m. Riding/walking time around 1,5 hrs. After rest, walk around, take part in shepherds life. No shower.

Day 5. Driving day to Karakol town. On the way stop for handicrafts shop in Kochkor village, for Issyk-Kol lake shore for picnic then enter the Skazka (Fairy tale) canyons for small hike. Skazka canyons are red shaped canyons with different formations. Beautiful place. Evening arrive to Karakol town. Stay in guest house. Rest. Hot shower. Dinner out in café.

Day 6. Free day. You can visit the Cathedral, Mosque, market, souvenir shops. Meet with the guide. Rest and get ready for trekking. You can leave things which you will not use for the trekking in the guest house.

Day 7. Start of the trekking. Karakol - Karakol valley - Kurgak-Tor gorge - "Sirota" camp site First half of day is spending by driving through into the Karakol gorge by 4x4 soviet military car. Second half of the day is smoothly walking for a 600 m up and camping in a tree line (3000m) nearby crystal clean water of Kurgak-Tor. Working day 2-3 hours. We shall see your walking, if you are speedy we may change to camp near the waterfall coming from Ala-Kol lake (3200m). Then walking will be around 5hrs in total.

Day 8. Sirota - Lake Ala-Kol - pass Ala-Kol (3 800 m) - Keldike gorge. The trail to Ala-Kol lake leads up and up, along the river (coming from the Ala-Kol lake). With a nice view for the waterfall, the amazing Ala-Kol lake, the glacier, and when you reach the pass you will find yourselves surrounded by high peaks. After admiring, the trail continue via gentle descent down from the pass. Camp (3 000 m). Working day 6-7 hours.

Day 9. Keldike valley - Altyn-Arashan hot springs. The Keldike valley is frequently visited by shepherds, who usually feed their cattle during the summer. The trail goes all the way down till Altyn-Arashan hot springs by crossing some small rivers. Second part of the day hike to Anyrty valley. After have rest in hot springs. Stay in house 2600m.

Day 10. After another dip in hot springs (on wish) walk down to Ak-Suu forestry and take driving to Karakol town. Working day 3-4 hours. Stay in same guest house.

Price: 1200 USD per person/tour.

Price includes:

 • all transfers starting from Airport or Bishkek to the end of the tour in Karakol town.

 • Trekking guide, cook and porters.

 • Meals and Lodging B&B in Yurt, Guest house and tents as in the program.

 • Entrance fees to National Park, Burana tower, Skazka canyons and all camping fees.

Price doesn't include:

 • Visa support

 • International flights to and from Bishkek

 • Lodging/meals in Bishkek

 • Medical/evacuation insurance

Equipment: Participants must have their equipment such as backpacks, desirable to have a personal sleeping bag, warm clothes, good trekking shoes, trekking poles, etc. (The whole structure of personal equipment).

Physical requirements: Participants must be in good physical condition, but don't need any special skills of mountaineering. The differences of heights range from 600 m to 850 m in vertical elevation. The maximum elevation is 3 850 m.

 

The program is written for horse riding to Son-Kol, but it is also possible walking, in the group some may want to ride horse. Horse will carry the luggage so you can walk easily.
